On 31 October 2013, Hungary turned off the analogue television signal. The television services are now fully digital. Hungary had been in a phase of simultaneous broadcasting since October 2012. The North-Western and South-Eastern territories of the country were the last to turn off the analogue TV.
The Hungarian National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH) launched a subsidy programme in order to ensure the reception of digital television by socially disadvantaged households. The NMHH also launched an infoline and an specially developed website to inform Hungarian citizens about the switchover.
